Sometimes it seems like they toss us human beings From the frying pan into the fire Anytime we yelp for a little bit of help Someone stokes up the flames a little higher We're hiding in our caves hoping that we might be saved From the wolves coming in at the door Sitting on a life raft wishing for a safe craft To keep us from the sharks below There's a sad old man on the hillside And he looks a bit like me Singing out that he that we're all just foolish To think that we can be good and free Yeah I know that I can't listen I don't want to sing that song 'Cause I think that I know a better one And I hope that you'll sing along The future's up ahead Far above the big machine Leave our doubts and sorrows down below As we rise up to our dreams Meet me on the mountain Mountain in the sky Meet me on the mountain It's gonna be all right Meet me on the mountain The mountain we must climb Meet me on the mountain We'll all get there in time You know there's a million voices Telling me that it's all for naught Telling me there's never ever any choices And our hopes should be all forgotten But you know that I can't believe them You know I can't do it alone It's not over yet, we can't lose the bet And the bears won't eat our bones The future's up ahead Far above the big machine Leave our doubts and sorrows down below As we rise up to our dreams Meet me on the mountain Mountain in the sky Meet me on the mountain It's gonna be all right Meet me on the mountain The mountain we must climb Meet me on the mountain We'll all get there in time

I don't want to be a big star With paparazzi tailing my heels Or read about myself in the Rolling Stone That's not how I want to feel That isn't why I started on the path I took I really just don't care I want to get together with a band of friends And play with shapes in the air Don't wanna work with ego heads and drama queens I just don't have the time The divas can go off and do some other things And leave me to do mine Pontificating, posing and the posturing That really isn't anywhere I want to pick up this old guitar And play with shapes in the air Shapes in the air, vibrations in space So fine and so rare Why I came here in the first place Interconnected with the mystery Being all the things that I was meant to be Music is the magic that will set us free Playing, with shapes in the air I don't want to be on a reality show With cameras following round Or win some singing contest That would only bring me down I want to do the thing that means more to me My dreams, my love, my prayer I want to get together with you tonight And play with shapes in the air

This part of the song is where the music stops You hear the voice of a broken man He talks about how it all went wrong Remembers how it all began A chance encounter in the park A smile, a look, a meaning glance The moment when they felt a spark Beginnings of a doomed romance After a little interlude The man starts talking once again He thinks about the bad old days When towers tumbled in the rain An argument across the phone Connections broken in the night The times they tried to get back home The times they tried to make it right And then the chorus starts The one you can't forget The one that sears your heart With longing and regret The part that sucks you in And burns into your brain But when the chorus stops You still hear music playing After the solo drifts away You hear his voice as things go still He wonders when he'll feel the same He doesn't think he ever will The days go on in shades of grey As silently he carries on A secret he can never say That something special now is gone And then the chorus starts The one you can't forget The one that sears your heart With longing and regret The part that sucks you in And burns into your brain The chorus doesn't stop The chorus keeps on playing And then the chorus starts The one you can't forget The one that sears your heart With longing and regret The part that sucks you in And burns into your brain The chorus doesn't stop The chorus keeps on playing

She said, do you want to be happy What do you want to see Do you want to travel to a place That could never be She said, do you want to travel Outside of time and space Do you want to live on another world With another race The far horizon, the far horizon That's where we have to go Into the new world, into the true world Beyond the shining doors The far horizon, the far horizon Out in the crazy skies We only know that the far horizon Is where our future lies She said, do you want to be clever Do you want to be wise Do you want to see into the hearts of men And understand their lives I smiled, and she smiled, and that was all it took My whole young life changed Into my hands she placed the book The far horizon, the far horizon That's where we have to go Into the new world, into the true world Beyond the shining doors The far horizon, the far horizon Out in the crazy skies We only know that the far horizon Is where our future lies The far horizon, the far horizon That's where we have to go Into the new world, into the true world Beyond the shining doors The far horizon, the far horizon Out in the crazy skies We only know that the far horizon Is where our future lies

Lucy looks off the edge of the cliff, and she wonders if she can fly If she can't it's a long way down, if she can she'll be so high Sometimes it all depends on if you find the right dimension Where the risk you take can free your mind She's right at the edge of the world, and she's looking out beyond Some said she was a magical girl, but they might have been putting her on Right there at the edge of the precipice, so much more bold than the rest of us She's willing to take the chance and turn into a song There might have been bad times before, but it's hard to really say If there were bad times before, now she's tossed them all away Took a long time for her to get here Now that she is, she's just so clear She's ready to step off into the sunrise all ablaze Lucy looks off the edge of the cliff, and she wonders if she can fly If she can't it's a long way down, if she can she'll be so high Sometimes it all depends on if you find the right dimension Where the risk you take can free your mind And we all want to be that high Yeah, we all want to be that high Ah, we all want to be that high That high, that high Far away in London Town, out amid the urban sprawl A young boy looks and sees her floating high above it all Her hands hold stars, or maybe they're jewels He only knows that it's really so cool He draws her picture, takes it home and puts it on the wall Lucy looks off the edge of the cliff, and she wonders if she can fly If she can't it's a long way down, if she can she'll be so high Sometimes it all depends on if you find the right dimension Where the risk you take can free your mind Where the risk you take can free your mind Where the risk you take can free your mind

You know it isn't bad here, but it's starting to get cold This living as a fugitive is starting to get old And the people I owe money to are bringing me right down I think it's time for us to leave this town The cruise is just a short one, we're in Havana in a while Our host will meet us at the dock with his trademark charming smile His beard might have some grey but there's a twinkle in his eye I think that things are gonna turn out fine We'll be smoking cigars with Fidel We'll be smoking cigars with Fidel On the sunny Cuban beaches, we know all will be quite well We'll be smoking cigars with Fidel We'll play a game of baseball, and we'll be sure to let him win That's one guy you don't want to have his patience running thin And to his shining city, well, he'll give to us the key Just as long as we don't try to disagree We'll be smoking cigars with Fidel We'll be smoking cigars with Fidel On the sunny Cuban beaches, we know all will be quite well We'll be smoking cigars with Fidel

It's far too soon for me to have To look through all these photographs I'm still too hurt, it's still too close I turn the page and see our ghosts I see a golden afternoon The children's voices in the breeze A festival I played in town And in the foreground, you and me The summer sun was in our smiles I can't forget, I never could These moments come and moments fly Cast off the bad, embrace the good The memories preserved in time The summer sun was in our smiles And now I'm here so far from home Sometimes I feel I'm all alone Adrift in space like some lost kite I'm floating out into the night I see the summer fade to fall Some things once close are far away But after everything and all My heart will still reflect that day The summer sun was in our smiles I can't forget, I never could These moments come and moments fly Cast off the bad, embrace the good The memories preserved in time The summer sun was in our smiles

Best Phone 05:23
In a shuttle bus on Highway 49 I'm stuck in traffic and I'm gonna miss my flight I got this cell phone from some other traveling guy And I hope that you don't hang up on me We weren't speaking when you drove me to the station We got some problems with our communication I only hope that when I reach my destination I'm the one that you want to see I know that there's static on the line And it's hard to hear, it's true But it's the best phone in the whole wide world If it gets me talkin' to you I didn't hear from you at all out on my tour No, not one message and I wanted so much more If I've done you wrong I want to know and that's for sure And be the man that I wanna be I know that there's static on the line And it's hard to hear, it's true But it's the best phone in the whole wide world If it gets me talkin' to you Time is precious And you know that we could get cut off at any time We might have some bad connection But you know that we can get together if we try If we can just talk a while together We might just wind up talkin' for forever Conversations cool, and conversations clever We don't have to ever disagree I know that there's static on the line And it's hard to hear, it's true But it's the best phone in the whole wide world If it gets me talkin' to you I know that there's static on the line And it's hard to hear, it's true But it's the best phone in the whole wide world If it gets me talkin', it gets me talkin' It gets me talkin' to you

Next time we meet, it'll all be changed I'll wear a different face, we'll play a different game I'll be on the line, you'll be on your feet And it could all be fine, the next time we meet Next time we meet, tables will be turned I'll be the one that shines, you'll be the one that burns When the evil ends, the pattern is complete And we can meet as friends, the next time we meet In the golden rays of the rising sun We can lay it down, we can get it straight And the long-time curse, it can be undone Next time we meet, I can hardly wait Next time we meet, I'll be singing this song And if it sounds familiar, you might sing along And we can sing together, a harmony so sweet Sing it on forever, next time we meet Sing it on forever, next time we meet Sing it on forever, next time we meet

It sneaks up on me from behind Like a wolf that stalks its prey out in the night I'm not sure of anything at all I don't know why I get up just to fall Have I played the fool all this long time Could it just be I lost my mind Did hope and hubris have their way I thought I had something to say I know it's gonna be all right I know deep down that this is real If I don't do this, then there'll just be one less light One missing leaf there on the tree I lost my confidence it seems Got disconnected from my dreams There's days when everything seems wrong But I know I can write this song I know it's gonna be all right I know deep down that this is real If I don't do this, then there'll just be one less light One missing leaf there on the tree

I can get outside if I just try I need some time out underneath the sky Spent too much time in darkness locked away It's time for me to start to feel OK It's so easy sometimes to forget You know there's so much sorrow and regret But life is just so precious and so fine Go laugh about it, but that's still my line I know that it might turn around Bad news might put me on the ground That black dog might show up and bite my hand Now I can feel my hopes unfurl And baby, like the Duke Of Earl There's nothing that can stop me or my plans You could make it, I could make it, it could all be great We get second chances every day The past can be behind us, and the futures on its way We get second chances every day I might take a tumble or a spill And knowing me, I guess I probably will But if I walk in sunshine one more day I'll use that memory to guide my way I know that it might turn around Bad news might put me on the ground That black dog might show up and bite my hand Now I can feel my hopes unfurl And baby, like the Duke Of Earl There's nothing that can stop me or my plans You could make it, I could make it, it could all be great We get second chances every day The past can be behind us, and the futures on its way We get second chances every day

Ichthyologists all agree What 'cha gonna do about someone like me Way down here at the bottom of the sea The Coelacanth swim alone All by myself in the dark and the brine Out of the loop and I'm out of my mind You know I know I'm from another time The Coelacanth swim alone Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na The Coelacanth swim alone Don't always care for the latest songs Not really sure where I belong I'm right here but they tell me I'm gone The Coelacanth swim alone Don't understand technology Can't even turn on my TV What 'cha gonna do about someone like me The Coelacanth swim alone Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na The Coelacanth swim alone It might be that I'm a fossil Might be I'm a falling star Might just be the price you pay For getting this far I've got good friends in the Modern Age Here to help me turn the page Don't always understand what they're trying to say The Coelacanth swim alone They say nothing good can ever last But I'm still here, there's always that Building the future out of my past The Coelacanth swim alone Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na The Coelacanth swim alone Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na na Na na na, na na na na The Coelacanth swim alone

about

The next installment in the Crazy Release Series, Mosaic draws from my Psychedelic Rock roots as well as the Bossa Nova, R&B, Americana, and World Music which seems to be my thing in these. I'm using this title not only because of the cool cover, or my combination of loop collage and live music that I often use, but also as a symbol of the various elements of myself that I've gained from my many friends, mentors and teachers over the years, and of the efforts I've made to try to use these influences to create something that is hopefully original and good. And hopefully I can be an influence on some other creative souls, who will make good things and pass on the spark through time. Never think you can't do it! I was helped so much by my collaborators in this project, especially my friends from the Theme Music Collective, who have been amazingly supportive and inspirational.

about

Beowulf Kingsley Grass Lake Charter Township, Michigan

Todd was here before. Perhaps you recognize him from back then. He looked different then, though. If you think he owes you any money, he was probably some other guy. Those other guys are gone now. We think they may be in Guam, or possibly Kansas.
