It's important to understanding this song to know that I am actually fabulously old. No, really old. Actually, older than that. In a few months of writing this, I'll be 70, which seems impossible to me. Will I make it? Who can say? But hey, I did get this song written anyway. It speaks of the strangeness of still being here after all this time, and the challenge of staying creative, and hopefully meaningful. I was helped again by the Theme Music Collective, my Friends From The Modern Age, who have been so instrumental in encouraging my songwriting and production, and who have made all of this much more fun than it would have been otherwise. Love you guys! Let's do more cool stuff real soon. (P.S. - special No-Prize to those who get the Donovan reference. You're either as old as I am, or you have an interesting internal record collection.)
lyrics
Ichthyologists all agree
What 'cha gonna do about someone like me
Way down here at the bottom of the sea
The Coelacanth swim alone
All by myself in the dark and the brine
Out of the loop and I'm out of my mind
You know I know I'm from another time
The Coelacanth swim alone
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na
The Coelacanth swim alone
Don't always care for the latest songs
Not really sure where I belong
I'm right here but they tell me I'm gone
The Coelacanth swim alone
Don't understand technology
Can't even turn on my TV
What 'cha gonna do about someone like me
The Coelacanth swim alone
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na
The Coelacanth swim alone
It might be that I'm a fossil
Might be I'm a falling star
Might just be the price you pay
For getting this far
I've got good friends in the Modern Age
Here to help me turn the page
Don't always understand what they're trying to say
The Coelacanth swim alone
They say nothing good can ever last
But I'm still here, there's always that
Building the future out of my past
The Coelacanth swim alone
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na
The Coelacanth swim alone
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na na
Na na na, na na na na
The Coelacanth swim alone

Todd was here before. Perhaps you recognize him from back then. He looked different then, though. If you think he owes you any money, he was probably some other guy. Those other guys are gone now. We think they may be in Guam, or possibly Kansas.
